High-Tops and Vintage Canons: Our 2016 Father's Day Gift Guide

We asked four of our favorite photographers - who also happen to be dads - for some Father's Day gift ideas outside of socks and ties. From $30 tech essentials to classic Vans to their favorite ONA bags, they did not disappoint. See all of their picks below, as well as photos from their daily lives as dads:

Christian Cannon | @seacannon

Christian Cannon first popped on our radar in 2013 for his iPhone photography, and his Father's Day picks take a cue from his playful documenting of Southern California's endless summer:

Z-Beam Cruiser skateboard ($150): "Whether making a quick run for groceries, wanting to make my daughter giggle, or I can't get down to the ocean so I just want to ride the concrete wave; having a good skateboard is always a must."

DDC-114 "Thick Lines" Poster Series ($35): "The more I get into the design world the more I enjoy having epic art around me and Aaron Draplin's work has been so inspirational."

Vans Leather SK8 Hi Reissue ($80): "I have been a vans guy my whole life. They are the kicks I buy, wear, destroy, and buy again and it's just about the time for a new pair!"

The Brixton in Leather ($439): "My leather Brixton is my killer. What I mean by that is it slays as both camera and messenger bag in any situation whether I am dressing up for nice meetings or photo gigs, or out adventuring in brutal weather; it works always!"

Mark Weinberg | @markweinbergnyc

Photographer Mark Weinberg selected three tech accessories under $80 that compliment his fast-paced, NYC-based routine:

Manfrotto TwistGrip Phone Mount ($50): "This is a low profile and sturdy phone mount with standard 1/4"-20 threaded hole and is easily adjusted to work with most phones, even with cases. I love how it folds up to be flat."

Kenu Airframe+ Air Vent Phone Holder ($30): "This is something I already have, it was a Christmas gift from my brother, but it is now part of my always-with-me travel kit and I want everyone to know about it."

Knocki ($79 - early bird Kickstarter): "Make any surface smart - you can turn a wall, table, door into a responsive surface. Pretty cool."

The Brixton in Waxed Canvas ($289): "I have absolutely loved my Brixton. It has gone all around the world and it even went to the hospital when we had our baby at the beginning of April. It holds just enough, but not too much to make it bulky or uncomfortable."

Benj Haisch | @benjhaisch

Benj Haisch is a dual modern-day pioneer of outdoors and wedding photography, merging the two regularly in refreshing new ways, particularly for such well-worn forms. Not surprisingly, his Father's Day picks embrace the old through modern lenses (pun intended):

Ebbet's Field Vintage Ballcap ($45): "These vintage styled caps are the perfect gift for any baseball fan. I just picked up an 1948 Oakland Oaks cap and love it."

Moment Mobile Photography Kit ($180): "Amazing lenses for any photographer on the go. The best option to improve the camera that's always in your pocket."

Artisan Obscura Soft Release + Hot Shoe Cover ($60): "The smallest accessory that makes the biggest difference. The soft button release on my Leica M cameras helps me with grip, feel, and being able to hold my camera a little more still at slower shutter speeds."

The Brixton in Leather ($439): "The Brixton is my favorite bag I've ever owned. The perfect choice for carrying almost any combo of cameras, lenses, flashes, or laptop, snacks, pens, books, and journals."

Daniel C. White | @danielcwhite

Daniel C. White - who we profiled last year for his far-reaching travel and humanitarian photography - picked the trappings of a peaceful day at home for his ideal Father's Day:

"These are definitely some of my favorite things, including my favorite ONA bag (a Camps Bay backpack) that I use every day, and on my adventures:

  • Orvis vest
  • Net
  • Morrell fly holder
  • Romeo Y Julieta Cigar No. 2
  • Xikar Cutter
  • Torch
  • Abel reel
  • RayBan Sunglasses
  • Canon FTb Vintage 35mm

This scene sets me up for a good day out on the stream behind my house. Nothing says Father’s Day like some fly fishing, a nice draw on a cigar, peaceful flow of the stream and some beautiful film to capture it all."
