Between product and lifestyle photo shoots, we have plenty of chances to experiment with how much gear can fit in each ONA and how to style each bag. But we’re always inspired and impressed by how real-life ONA owners manage to make the bags work for them (keep sharing your photos with us on social media!), so we decided to highlight how some of our favorite photographers make their bag work for them.
We first met Dan Rubin when we co-sponsored 100 | 50 | 1: he was the co-creator and co-curator of the portrait photography exhibition. We were instantly enamored with Dan’s clear passion for photography in all of its forms. One of Instagram’s earliest beta-testers and a speaker at the world’s first mobile photography conference, 1197, his work was featured in iTunes upon Instagram’s launch and he has become one of the most-followed, non-celebrity mobile photographers, with more than half a million followers on Instagram alone. After purchasing a Polaroid SX-70 in 2008, Dan was reintroduced to the love of photography and of cameras themselves, and now shoots using over 40 film and digital cameras, including 35mm, medium format, large format, and instant film. Now based in London, he travels the world for select commissions with an enviable array of cameras.
“Photography helps me understand how I see the world; as a designer, it also helps me hold on to my sense of awe and wonder at everything I see, whether old, new, natural, man-made, static or in motion. While there are certain subjects I find myself continually drawn toward — architecture, the scale of nature, normally crowded spaces devoid of people — what I enjoy most about photography is that I never know what’s going to catch my eye next.”
What’s in Dan’s Leather Brixton:
